‘Society is plagued by overconsumption. Individual identities are being erased and replaced by mass uniformity.

It is difficult to live as an outsider, to exist separately from the phantasmagoric blur of mass consumerism and conformity. Digital and physical spheres try to mold individuals, to get them to spend their way into a safe, but faceless existence.

‘Outside the MASS’ aims to replicate Taylor’s own biases against mainstream society and it’s expectations for how you should live your life. The body of work is an internal dialogue, a self reflective but inherently flawed commentary of the correlation between capitalism, prejudice and conformity.

Gabe. G Taylor blends Reportage and Surrealism in order to present his unique stance on the Attention Economy, displaying unreliable snapshots of the spaces he inhabits.

The viewer is invited to explore the narrative distortion and partake in the discourse. Are Taylor’s views warranted? Are the issues presented a matter of perspective, or a generational crisis?’
