The launch of a new KAYU workshop with the Artery Studio. Not your traditional batik, but a unique batik technique where we will make batik on beautiful mahogony plate using javanese batik wax-resist dyeing technique.
What is BATIK KAYU? It’s a craft adopted using traditional batik wax-resist dyeing technique on mahogony wood surface instead of your usual cotton fabric. This fun and therapeutic workshop is suitable for anyone, even absolute beginners.
Through this 3-hour workshop you will create your own batik plate while learning the basics of the art of batik canting.
What to expect:

- Learn skills for “tulis” batik by using hot wax and a special “tjanting” tool
- Experiment with mixing colours to produce the right tone and shade
- All materials and tools provided
- A beautiful piece of 22cm dia batik mahogony plate to take home
