Autumn Enchantments
“Is not this a true autumn day? Just the still melancholy that I love that makes life and nature harmonise” George Eliot
I am delighted to offer an autumn workshop at The Arches in Worcester. This generous space has an outdoor opportunity to roam and draw in.
Autumn teaches us the beauty of letting go. Growth requires release –
its what the trees do. Be like a tree and let the leaves drop.
Rumi
We will focus our attention on the withdrawal of autumn, and a creative move towards winter; its call to attune an inner landscape of wonder and awe.
Through table, wall and floor drawing we will:
- Observe the matter of autumn – using leaves and trees to guide us in blind drawing exercises
- We will draw inside and outside – roaming the spaces of The Arches
- Solo and collaborative mark making
- We will concentrate on bilateral and touch led drawing warm ups to embody and immerse
- we will focus on time – its motive to expand
The aim: to free and stimulate – to focus and wonder. This is an uncritical approach to expanded drawing and a gentle space to unfold and develop unexpected relations to drawing and mark making!
